Cal Poly University Store Launches “Hoodies with a Heart” Program

SAN LUIS OBISPO — The University Store will be kicking off the month of February with its annual “Hoodies with a Heart” Program. “Hoodies with a Heart” makes doing good easy and encourages Cal Poly students and campus members to donate their gently-worn hoodies to the homeless in our community.

Hoodies donated will be cleaned up and given to the Prado Day Center in San Luis Obispo. The Prado Day Center provides essential day-to-day services for homeless members of our community, such as meals, showers, laundry facilities and other services. It is the only day center serving the homeless population in the region.

The University Store will give Cal Poly students and community members who participate 25% off of their purchase of a new hoodie, on behalf of donating their old one. The program will run throughout the month of February and boxes will be easily available for sweatshirt drop-off in the University Store, Cal Poly Print and Copy located in the Kennedy Library and Cal Poly Downtown located at 959 Higuera St.

Ultimately, the University Store’s mission is to support student success. Not only does this apply to success within the academic community at Cal Poly, but also within the local community. To this end, Hoodies with a Heart helps both the local homeless population and helps students to learn by doing good.
