The Village Market received the top award from the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) in the “Big Idea” category. They will receive a commemorative plaque recognizing their achievement at the awards ceremony on July 8, 2009 in Milwaukee, WI. In addition, the Village Market will be featured in a short film with other award winning campuses this spring.
Village Market opened its doors fall of 2008 to students, faculty, and staff. Campus Dining wanted the Market to be more than just an ordinary convenience store. They incorporated freshly prepared deli foods, grab-and-go items, favorite grocery and household goods, and more. The Village Market soon became an essential shopping spot for students & staff living on and off campus.
“We are ecstatic about winning the NACUFS Best in Business Award,” says Mike Thornton, Associate Director of Campus Dining. “The Village Market is a great concept and continues to get better every day. We listened to our customers, made several improvements, and people appreciated it.”
Recently, the Village Market incorporated larger shelves and a variety of popular products. Further, newly branded signs were added, making the Market an even more colorful and exciting experience for customers.
