San Luis Obispo, Calif. - June 2, 2010 - Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is pleased to announce that Cal Poly Corporation (CPC) has pledged $100,000 to the newly established ASI Learn-By-Doing Leadership Fund in honor of Cal Poly President Warren J. Baker. This Leadership Endowment pays tribute to President Baker’s more than thirty years of leadership, partnership, and support of shared governance. The fund will serve as an ongoing resource to support the development of leaders across the Cal Poly campus.
The $100,000 pledge by CPC will provide the initial contribution to the fund and will be paid in full within the next four years. "We are thrilled to contribute to a cause which supports the growth and development of our students," CPC Executive Director Bonnie Murphy said. "It’s just the right thing to do." The goal of the endowment aims to provide opportunities in leadership and to foster and enhance the "Learn-By-Doing" philosophy so embodied by the tenure of President Baker. The endowment has been created to provide funding for the following types of programs:

Murphy will present the contribution to the endowment committee at the final ASI Board of Directors meeting on June 2 at 5 p.m. in UU 220. This meeting is open to the public.
