Cal Poly and the CSU Are Recognizing Juneteenth Holiday
The California State University board of trustees added June 19 (Juneteenth) as a CSU recognized holiday starting this year.
So, on June 19 take the day off.
This follows Juneteenth becoming a federal holiday in 2021. The holiday commemorates the day in 1865 when Union troops proclaimed freedom for enslaved people in the Confederate-held state of Texas.
This change does not impact the start of summer quarter, which is still scheduled for Monday, June 26.
