More than $3,000 Raised for Students Struggling with Food Insecurity on GivingTuesday
To help increase support to students struggling with food insecurity, Campus Dining opened a donation shop for GivingTuesday, Nov. 29, on the Grubhub app and students and staff donated $3,500 to Mustang Meal Share.
All proceeds will go to the Mustang Meal Share program that provides food vouchers for those in need of a hot meal on campus.
“This was such a great turn out and will certainly help the students who need it most,” Campus Dining Director Jess Dozier said. “Food insecurity is a very real thing on campus and Campus Dining is helping to support where we can,”
A recent study has shown that nearly 40 percent of respondents go hungry. Part of the university’s Basic Needs Initiative, Mustang Meal Share helps ensure that every student has access to nutritious meals each day so they can stay focused on their studies and success.
