October New Hires
Hiring is in full happening throughout CPC units and the Employee Referral Bonus program has been increased to help recruit new employees. This month Campus Dining welcomed a new cook for Vista Grande, Marketing and Communications brought on an alum and former stateside employee and Cal Poly Arts hired Tyra Popovich, (photo above) a communications pro.
Morro Bay native Tyra Popovich started working this week as the new advancement coordinator for Cal Poly Arts. Popovich holds a degree in Organizational Studies with a concentration in Media Studies from Pitzer College. Before joining the CPC team, Tyra worked as a communications associate at the Young Musicians Foundation in Los Angeles.
Miguel Sanchez recently started working as a cook with Campus Dining and will be working at Vista Grande. Sanchez has been working at Vista Grande for a couple months already as an intermittent employee and is now starting as a full-time employee. Prior to Cal Poly, Sanchez worked as a cook and food prep at Lolo’s Mexican Restaurant in Morro Bay.
Krista Smith started recently as a marketing communications manager with Cal Poly Corporation. Smith previously studied at Cal Poly, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Journalism and her master’s degree in Public Policy. Most recently, Smith worked as a senior account executive for Nuffer, Smith, Tucker Public relations in San Diego. Before her move to San Diego she was the online communications specialist for College of Liberal Arts for four years.
