September New Hires
September marks the start of the 2021-22 school year, and the Corporation is excited to welcome back both familiar and new faces to the team. Not only did Campus Dining continue to hire for a range of positions, but we also welcome a research assistant, Stephanie Lechuga (photo above), as well as a programming and development specialist for the Cal Poly Arts.
Christopher Acevedo just started working with Cal Poly Corporation as an assistant supervisor for Campus Dining’s food trucks. Acevedo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UCLA. Additionally, Acevedo has multiple years of experience in food service and college dining, as he previously worked as a supervisor for the dining program at UCLA.
Andrew Albright rejoined Cal Poly Corporation as a food service associate. Albright holds a degree in General Education from Allan Hancock College and has prior experience working with Campus Dining. Albright worked at Cal Poly for about 8 years starting in 2012 and held positions at both 19 Metro and Mustang Station.
Angel Ballesteros recently started working as Campus Dining’s newest cook. He will be working at Visa Grande. Ballesteros has worked in the food service industry for many years, and even has prior experience working at Cal Poly’s previous Vista Grande building. Additionally, Ballesteros has worked for other local restaurants including Apple Farm and Louisa’s Place.
Christal Barragan just started as an assistant supervisor with Campus Dining located at Vista Grande. Barragan has multiple years of experience in both customer and food services. This includes working at Taco Bell where she prepped, cooked, cleaned and helped train new employees.
Andrew Carmona recently started working with Campus Dining as a food service associate at Poly Canyon Village. Carmona graduated from Cal Poly with a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science. Prior to this position, Carmona worked as a kitchen assistant at New Earth Superfoods Cafe in Grover Beach.
Briley German started with Campus Dining this week as an assistant supervisor at the University Union Starbucks. German has a degree in Psychology from Modesto Junior College and has a passion for coffee and business. Prior to this, German worked as a server, baker, and host at The Cheesecake Factory.
Cody Janzen just started at Campus Dining as a unit supervisor at Vista Grande. Janzen also worked for Campus Dining a couple years ago, and we are happy to have him back. While Janzen was away, he held a supervisor position at Starbucks.
Stephanie Lechuga just started working as a research assistant at the Center of Health Research. She has a Master’s degree in Education from UC Santa Barbara as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from UC Berkeley. Prior to this position, Lechuga worked at UC Santa Barbara as a staff research coordinator.
Coralee Macias recently began working as a programming and development specialist for the Cal Poly Arts. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Texas Christian University and has multiple years of experience working in the performing arts industry. Some positions she held prior to this include working as a Line Producer at Red Tail Entertainment and a Programming Associate at AT&T Performing Arts Center.
Delfino Martinon-Bautista just started working full-time as a dishroom associate in Vista Grande. He has worked for Campus Dining in the dishroom since 2017 as an intermittent employee.
Vanessa Nelson recently started with Cal Poly Corporation as a unit assistant supervisor with Campus Dining. Nelson has worked in the food industry for over 35 years and held management/supervisor roles at multiple restaurants prior to this including Round Table Pizza, 456 Embarcadero, and Me and Ed’s Pizza.
Nicole Prude recently started a full-time position with Cal Poly Corporation as an assistant supervisor for Campus Dining. Prude is no stranger to Campus dining, as she previously held multiple positions on campus. As a student, Prude worked as a crew lead at Chick-fil-A. After that, she became a crew lead at Streats, where she worked as an intermittent employee and helped with the opening of the new campus restaurant.
Lupe Rubalcava recently joined Cal Poly Corporation’s Campus Dining team as a cook at Canyon Cafe. Rubalcava has many years of experience working in the food industry. Prior to this role, Rubalcava worked at The Great American Fish Company on the Embarcadero in Morro Bay for 23 years, where he started as a dishwasher and worked his way up to cook.
Mike Wallace recently rejoined Cal Poly Corporation as a lead cook with Campus Dining. Wallace has prior experience working for Campus Dining, and we are glad to have him back. Previously, Wallace held positions at multiple locations on campus including 805 Kitchen, the Food Trucks, and Vista Grande.
