SAN LUIS OBISPO – Cal Poly Campus Dining is offering three new dining plan options for incoming freshman as well as continuing and transfer students for the 2018-19 academic year.

The plans will provide more options and freedom for students living on campus.

“We heard from students that they want more flexibility, convenience and value in their dining plan options, so we created three separate plans that offer alternatives when it comes to food as well as cost,” said Spyros Gravas, director of Campus Dining.

The new options include three plans for incoming freshman and three plans for continuing and transfer students. New for 2018-19 are two plans that include a combination of meal credits and declining balance funds, and one plan that is completely declining balance.

Meal credits are good for a meal at 805 Kitchen, Cal Poly’s all-you-care-to-eat dining venue, or a comparable meal at any of the other 25 Campus Dining venues. Meals outside of 805 Kitchen will be selected off of a predetermined menu unique to each location and may include a main dish item, and a beverage. Students save up to 35 percent off regular-priced meals at 805 Kitchen with their dining plan.

Declining balance funds are comparable to money on a debit card — free to be used at any Campus Dining venue including the markets.

The three new incoming Freshman Dining Plans — Mustang 180 Plan, the Mustang 150 Plan, and the Mustang All-Flex Plan — all range in price to help accommodate different budget and hunger levels.

The continuing and transfer student dining plans including the Mustang 120 Plan, the Mustang 80 Plan, and the Mustang Freedom Plan, all offer the flexibility, convenience and value as students can choose from a wide variety of dining options throughout their day. These plans were created as a supplement to cooking at home as most continuing and transfer students will be living in on-campus apartments furnished with a kitchen.

Campus Dining features a wide variety of options from grab-and-go to all-you-care-to-eat throughout more than 25 dining venues including two markets, three food trucks and over 1,000 menu options.

With these new dining plan options, new Mustangs have the freedom to make their own food choices.
