It was September and 5,147 excited first-year students were moving onto campus for the start of the 2022 academic year at Cal Poly. To get this class off to a good start, Campus Dining put together a Welcome Box that included a branded reusable tumbler with 100 complimentary drink fills and a selection of fun snacks, including locally made Kettle Corn. The tumbler is part of Campus Dining’s sustainability program and helps keep thousands of single-use cups out of landfills.
The 100%-recyclable Welcome Box also featured a flyer with pertinent information about dining at Cal Poly and a QR code directing students to more information about Campus Dining’s sustainability efforts. Thanks to a collaborative effort with Cal Poly Distribution Services, University Housing and Campus Dining, the Welcome Boxes were handed out during move-in at check-in points across campus, eliminating shipping and further reducing the environmental footprint.
